For technology vendors and VAR partners this:
http://www.thevarguy.com/2010/05/05/bocada-launches-partner-program/ was posted in the VAR Guy’s blog (thanks Dave Courbanou!), who you may know, has his pulse on the latest trends in the channel and what’s working and what’s not.

Also seen lately is this: http://www.channelinsider.com/c/a/Storage/Bocada-Adds-Channel-Focus-to-Compete-with-EMC-Symantec-845001/ great article in [ci] Channel Insider that talks about the value of Bocada’s exciting new Prism solution and the company’s shift to a channel centric model. If you are a reseller, looking for a hot new storage product that’s not another “me too”, you’ll want to check out this new workflow driven, intelligent analysis solution that better manages backup and recovery operations, while lowering overall costs.

To hear a full explanation of this breakthrough, new Data Protection Services Management (DPSM) model, listen to this podcast recorded at the most recent Storage Networking World, by Nancy Hurley, President of Bocada http://bit.ly/cRTO3J.
Channel Chargers wants to keep you in the know! And as always, we’re here to help vendors and VARs be more efficient – and make more money!

Channel Chargers is on the move this month with both east and west coast swings to connect with partners on both sides of our great nation, and then it’s off to Orlando for the SNW Conference April 12-15. There, you’ll find us pressing the flesh and checking out all the hottest in new technologies including what’s hiding in the “Cloud”. We’re staying on top of this key issue where emerging ways to effectively access data in the Cloud and maintain security are hot topics. It’s our mission to communicate how the Cloud can contribute to vendor and channel bottom lines, and we’ll be analyzing new developments and how they affect you.

Along with other IT professionals, we will be attending SNW Hands-On Labs on a variety of topics, including solid state storage, server virtualization, and cloud storage, with sessions about backup, disaster recovery, and email archival in the cloud. Plus, our very own Marty Foltyn will be speaking on “Using Social Media to Your Advantage” on Thursday April 15, where she and co-presenter Diana Eastty will discuss tips and best practices for small businesses and IT professionals to use blogging, Twitter, Facebook and Linkedin most effectively. Marty’s tutorial will be available online at www.snia.org/education after April 12, 2010.

All in all, a busy month for Channel Chargers with plans to be even busier in May with a prospective trip to Europe to meet up with our team members in the UK and visit VARs and vendors in a number of different countries. We are definitely on the move!!

It is certainly no revelation to state that most traditional hardware-centric channel partners desire a contribution increase from the sale of services. Whether it is hosting, managing, consulting or some combination, the math generally suggests that margins on services are significantly higher…and trending better. Many of the partners I have met with recently continue increasing their focus on growing service sales and are finding the path a bit clearer with the abundance of enablement tools available. New product introductions in support of services and service delivery are rolling-in like 20 foot plus “Pipeline” lefties on a winter swell. It is a pleasure being associated with such a tool through our partnership with Bocada (www.bocada.com). Even if you have limited technical resources, there is no reason not to increase your margins by adding service sales to your mix. “Cowabunga”!

Welcome to the inaugural Channel Chargers blog! Our goal is to serve you, as we do all our vendor and reseller partners, with news and information designed to do one thing: help you sell.

Channel Chargers is kind of a funny animal. While we work to the benefit of both technology vendors and solution providers, we are neither.

For our VAR partners, we strive to make sure that the products brought to them on behalf of our clients, are truly “channel ready”. That means, not only is the product an excellent fit for their mix, but all of the sales and marketing tools are in place for them to make the fast dash towards incremental sales.

For our vendor partners, we provide channel sales and channel marketing support, and bring to the table our extensive network of reseller partners to find the best fit. We give them actionable Go-to-Channel” strategies, plus “feet on the street” without adding extra burdened overhead.

In short, we’re an experienced sales and marketing outsourcing team focused on putting global technology in the right hands as rapidly as possible. For more information about outsourcing, take a look at this white paper. (link)

In the coming months we’ll be discussing technology trends, hot new marketing techniques, sales tips, social media and more. Stay tuned and welcome to Channel Chargers!
